NCDOT: I-40 lane reopens

WAYNESVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Transportation officials said one westbound lane of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee state line is back open Monday afternoon. Initially, officials said one lane could remain closed until next month.

This comes after a rock slide Friday night in Haywood County, near mile marker 7.

Workers were able to quickly clear one lane, but officials at the North Carolina Department of Transportation initially thought the second lane could remain closed until Jan. 7.
