BOILING SPRINGS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A letter sent out to neighbors in one Boiling Springs neighborhood said thieves have been targeting property and the victims were all single women.

The letter came from the Sterling Estates Homeowners Association and stated that there were three attempted break-ins.

Deputies have not confirmed the attempted break-ins but neighbors are on the lookout.

Vinson Blanton lives on Symmetry Court. That's the last street the letter from the HOA says was the target of an attempted break in.

While he and other neighbors are on high alert they say they had no idea there were any attempted break-ins in the neighborhood.

"I hadn't heard anything from any of the neighbors and I was kind of questioning the legitimacy of it," said Vinson Blanton.

"I've heard some of the neighbors talk and that they are going to invest and get a home security system as well," said Diedrick Haerens.

People who live in Sterling estates say they've known it to be a safe neighborhood. There are even surveillance cameras on the corners.

Deputies say they are checking their files to see if there have been any attempted break-ins in the neighborhood recently.
