Vandals shatter glass at Monaview school, nearby home

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they are investigating vandalism that happened at a Greenville school and a nearby home Wednesday evening.

Deputies said that about 6:30 p.m. firefighters were called to Monaview Elementary School on Monaview Street after a fire alarm was activated. They said there was no fire at the school, but firefighters noticed that the glass of the front door had been shattered and called deputies to investigate.

Investigators said that several windows and doors throughout the school had been damaged, but nothing was stolen.

About a half-hour later, deputies said they were called to a home on Monaview Street after someone threw a rock through a window and damaged two vehicles.

Deputies said they are investigating the possibility that the two incidents are connected.

Anyone with information about either case was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME (864-232-7463).
