Police: Gunman sought after 2 shot as fight breaks out

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police and county deputies were looking for a gunman early Tuesday morning after they said two young men were shot.

Officers at the scene told FOX Carolina that the shooting happened at the Spinx on John B. White Sr. Boulevard about 2:40 a.m. Witnesses told police several women were in a fight in the parking lot when a few men got involved, one of whom began firing shots.

Police said the gunman first fired two shots in the air then began shooting at the group of people. They said he was wearing a black stocking cap, black shirt and jeans.

Police said a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and a 21-year-old man was shot in the legs. Officers said the victims left the Spinx in private cars, including the teen who was found a short time later inside a car that officers stopped at Arch and Howard streets.

Spartanburg County deputies were called in to assist in the search for a shooter while the victims were taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, police said. They said neither of the victims injuries appeared to be life threatening.
