GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood police are investigating an armed robbery when a woman was shot after getting cash at an ATM on New Year's Eve.

Police said on Monday about 1:15 a.m. the woman had taken out $460 from a Wells Fargo ATM and was walking back home when a gray car pulled up behind her as she was walking by Speedy's Barber Shop on Phoenix Street.

The woman told police as the car pulled up, a man in the passenger side leaned out the window and pointed a pistol to her leg.

She told police that the unknown man said, "I seen you at Wells Fargo so give it up or I will shoot you in the leg, and then the next one will be in your head."

She gave him the money but was still shot in the leg, police said. She told police the car fled toward Seaboard Avenue. The vehicle was described as a Toyota Camry with a black pinstripe down the side of the door.

The woman was taken to Self Regional Medical Center for treatment, police said.

Police said the shooter was described as black male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with a mustache and was wearing a black hooded jacket. She told police she could see the driver had long black hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Greenwood Police Department of Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
