Police said a man and his girlfriend got into an argument while he was watching football, leading him to throw feces on her and hit her.
Spartanburg police officers were called to a home on Hugh Street on Wednesday night after the woman's mother reported the assault.
Deputies said they found the woman's clothes stained with feces, which was also splattered on the kitchen floor. The mother told deputies that 51-year-old Dwight Boyd shoved her daughter onto the floor then poured the feces on her, which was from an elderly man's portable toilet who is taken care of at the home.
When questioned, deputies said Boyd admitted that he was watching a football game on TV when his girlfriend would not leave him alone, and he threatened to throw the feces on her if she came back in the room. He told deputies he threw the feces on her but did not hit her. Deputies said the couple had been drinking.
Boyd was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence.
