GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A NOAA weather radio transmitter that serves the southern Upstate is down for maintenance, according to the National Weather Service in Greer.

The weather service said Monday that the transmitter at Kirksey that operates on a frequency of 162.425 megahertz will be out of service for an unknown amount of time.

Officials urged people in the southern Upstate to tune to the Paris Mountain transmitter in the northern Upstate, which operates on a frequency of 162.550 MHz.

Service will be restored as soon as possible, the weather service said.
