Police have charged a Greenwood woman and her boyfriend after they said her 2-year-old daughter was left unsupervised and had burns on her foot.

Greenwood police said they were called after the girl's grandmother took her to the emergency room with a severe burn on her right foot. The grandmother picked up the girl from her mother's home to spend the night when the toddler complained that her foot hurt, police said. When the grandmother went to pull the sock off, it was stuck to the skin because of the burn, according to the police report.

When asked how she was burned, the girl said, "Mommy did it," the report said.

Doctors told police that the girl was burned with some sort of hot object, but the burn did not begin to look severe until the sock was kept on it. Police said the girl was eventually taken to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment.

Police said the girl's mother, 19-year-old Dabryanna Dean, and her boyfriend, Kelsey Belcher, left the girl alone for a substantial amount of time. Police said they are not sure if the burns happened while the girl was alone or after Dean and Belcher returned, but because the couple was responsible for the girl, they were both arrested and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child.
