Ex-Cherokee Co. jailer gets 6 years for molesting child

GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A former Cherokee County corrections officer was sentenced to six years in prison Monday after admitting to molesting a child.

Harold Phillips, 38, of Gaffney, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree assault and battery.

Prosecutors said Phillips touched the private parts of a child, who was between 6 and 7 years old, during 2010 and 2011.

In addition to prison, Phillips was sentenced to five years of probation.
