ELLENBORO, NC (FOX Carolina) -
Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that blocked a highway in Rutherford County.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that someone died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on US 221 Thursday morning. The crash happened between Concord and Hines roads near the Broad River Bridge.
Authorities said that fuel was spilled, so crews were busy trying to clear that up, shutting down the roads until about 7:30 a.m. Crews at the scene told FOX Carolina that the crash also involved a SUV.
The wreck happened in a construction zone.
Details about the victim and how the wreck happened have not been released.
