Greenwood police investigating rape of woman by 2 men

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood police said they are investigating the rape of a woman who said she was attacked by three men while walking home Wednesday morning.

According to an incident report, the woman told police that she left Self Regional Hospital about 1:45 a.m. after visiting her mother. The report said that as the woman was walking home, three men passed her and said hello. The woman said that she waved at the men and they began calling her a derogatory term because she would not stop to speak to them.

The woman told police that as she approached the corner of New Market and Green streets, two of the men grabbed her arms and the third man began pushing her behind a house. The report said the men threatened her before two of the men raped her.

After the attack, one of the men showed a gun to the woman and threatened to hurt her if she told anyone, according to the incident report.

One of the men was described as black, between 18 and 21 years old, 5'2" tall and about 150 pounds, wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, a blue baseball cap and had "messed up" teeth. The second man was described as black, 18 to 21 years old, 5'2" tall and about 150 pounds, wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans. The third man was described as between 30 and 40 years old, 5'2" tall and about 150 pounds, also wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information regarding the attack was asked to call the Greenwood Police Department at 864-942-8422.
