Deputies: Gunman found after fleeing to Upstate

FOREST CITY, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a man wanted in connection with a western North Carolina shooting was located and arrested in the Upstate.

Rutherford County deputies said the shooting happened late Wednesday night in Forest City off Old Caroleen Road.

Deputies issued a "Be On The Lookout" alert for Earl Bowers, who was later located and arrested in Cherokee County, SC.

Deputies said they have issued warrants against Bowers for assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and second-degree trespass. Bowers will be extradited from Cherokee County back to Rutherford County, deputies said.

They did not release further details about the shooting.
