There's no sign of a robber who busted into a Fountain Hills business and took off with some cash, a cell phone and some fishing poles. Now the business' owner needs help finding the culprit.
The burglary started at the vacant building next door, where the man responsible picked the lock. Then he kicked through the dry wall, leaving a gaping hole that's since been repaired, to get to his target.
"The lights were on, the alarm was going off, right then I knew something was wrong," George Perez, the owner of Trading Desk Resources in Fountain Hills, said.
If you've ever been the victim of a burglary, you know the feeling Perez got when he walked into his office Thursday morning.
"I came into this office and there were papers everywhere," he said, pointing to the floor of his office.
But Perez put in surveillance cameras when neighboring businesses started moving out, and he thinks the vacant storefronts may have attracted the thief.
"I do think it was a contributing factor, it's been two years since this place has been pretty much empty," he said, speaking of the building next door.
Once inside, the burglar had his pick of computers, but didn't touch them.
"He didn't take much except maybe $100 in cash," Perez said. "He took a few fishing poles, some were very expensive, maybe total $1,000 worth"
Perez filed a report with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. He suspects this guy is white, 5'10" and around 180 pounds, and wants your help in finding him.
"Whether it's your house, your office, or your car or someone taking your wallet or your pocket book, you know, it's illegal, and the guy's got to pay his dues," Perez said.
He is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can identify the culprit. If you know anything call police.
