CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Clemson utility officials said heavy rainfall caused a sewer to overflow at a local pump station Thursday.
The overflow happened at pump station number nine near 303 Mountain View Ln. in Clemson Thursday afternoon, releasing nearly 500 gallons of sewage, according to the city.
Officials said the overflow reached Lake Hartwell nearby, prompting a recommendation for people to stay clear of the lake for the next week.
Mountain View Lane is off of College Avenue, just north of US 123.
