GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said they were called to an Upstate Walmart on Sunday after someone reported seeing someone inside the store with a gun who was trying to shoplift a weapon.
Greenville County deputies responded to the Walmart store on White Horse Road about noon and assisted in evacuating the store after someone reported seeing someone inside possibly carrying some sort of rifle, according to Greenville County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Laura Campbell.
FOX Carolina spoke with a customer who said employees went around and asked customers to leave as deputies were called in.
Campbell said after searching the store with the help of canine officers, they determined someone riding in a motorized wheelchair tried to shoplift a BB gun. Deputies said the gun was located and no arrests were made.
The store was cleared and customers were allowed back inside by 1 p.m., according to FOX Carolina crews at the scene.
