An Arctic front has moved through and will begin blasting us with cold air tonight into tomorrow! We'll feel it the most in the northern mountains, with wind chills in the negative numbers (Wind Chill Advisory until noon tomorrow for Yancey and Mitchell counties).
Northwest winds will blow at 15-25 in the mountains tonight, and 5-15 in the Upstate. Wind chills outside the northern mountains will get down into the single digits, and expect teens for "real feel" temps in the Upstate late night. Actual lows will drop into the upper teens in the mountains and upper 20s for the Upstate under mostly clear skies.
The coldest night for ACTUAL temps and not wind chills will be Tuesday night. I'm forecast 14-24 area-wide!
We'll slowly warm through the week, then end the week with showers. A wintry mix will be possible in western NC by Friday morning, but all cold rain should take over quickly through Friday. We should clear in time for the weekend, but cold air will settle in once again!
