A Moore man was arrested Thursday evening in connection with an assault outside a medical center in Spartanburg earlier in the day.

The attack happened at 7:42 a.m. in the parking lot of Mary Black Minor Care at 2995 Reidville Rd.

Deputies said a woman told them that as she was walking into the building, a man approached her and used a screwdriver to try to stab her in the neck. They said the woman's clothes prevented the tool from causing an injury. The woman also said the man touched her in a sexual nature, deputies said.

Investigators said the man knocked the woman to the ground, and the woman was able to kick him in the groin. They said the man hit the woman as he ran away.

Deputies said they searched the area using tracking dogs, but were unable to find him. They said the man was later arrested at his parents' home on Old Anderson Mill Road.

The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Richard Culberson, was charged with robbery, criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and first-degree assault and battery.
