NWS has upgraded the following WNC counties from a Winter WX Advisory to a WINTER STORM WARNING: MADISON, YANCEY, MITCHELL, MCDOWELL COUNTIES
It will still end at 11 PM.
Up to ½" of sleet is possible, and the freezing rain accumulation will be around 0.1"
Also, the NWS has added the following counties to the WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY which goes until 11 PM: ABBEVILLE, GREENWOOD, ELBERT.
A trace of ice will be possible in these areas we'll keep spotty freezing rain in the afternoon forecast. Any slick spots on roads will be isolated, however.
This afternoon, we expect most of the freezing rain between 12 and 4 PM to fall in WNC (with some scattered freezing rain in the northern part of the Upstate). Anything south of I-85 in Upstate SC will be fairly spotty. Beyond 4 PM, most of the precip will change to rain - and continue through the end by 10-11 PM.
