SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Simpsonville man was arrested Friday after police said he beat and then kidnapped a woman and child.

Simpsonville police said 23-year-old Larry Ladson Jr. kicked down the door of a woman's home at Maple Court Apartments, and then punched the woman several times in her face and body, and hit her child in the face before forcing the pair into a sport utility vehicle.

Police said Ladson was arrested when he tried to flee from the SUV after he was spotted by police.

The woman and her child were treated for their injuries at Greenville Memorial Hospital, police said.

Ladson was charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of kidnapping, high and aggravated criminal domestic violence and three counts of first-degree assault and battery. He was being held in the Greenville County jail without bond.
