Happy Monday! After a chilly Sunday (I took the dogs for a walk yesterday and kept my mittens on the whole time!), temperatures will stay on the cool side today. Temps will top out around 50 degrees in the Upstate, with WNC towns rising a degree or two higher. We'll remain mostly cloudy, with a small chance of a shower throughout the day. Anything we see will be spotty and light, however.
Tuesday brings a BIG warm-up! Ahead of a cold front, southerly winds will help temperatures climb into the mid and upper 60s area-wide. By late-day, we'll begin to see a few showers work into the region, but the best chance of rain holds off until mid-week.
The cold front passes on Wednesday, bringing the best chance of rain - and thunderstorms. We'll stay very mild for the middle of the week, and the clash of the cold and warm air near the front could trigger some strong or severe storms. The damaging wind and tornado threat will be something to watch - and we're already in the SPC's Slight Risk area on Wednesday (you can see that here). Winds will be very strong Wednesday - and heavy downpours are also a possibility within storms. By the end of the week, cooler air settles back into the area.
