ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Anderson police are searching for whoever robbed a local Family Dollar store Monday morning.
Police said they were called to an armed robbery on River Street after the masked man robbed the store then fled the scene, possibly in a white SUV about 8:05 a.m.
A witness told police she saw the man enter the store said she saw him hold the gun to the clerk's head. She then tried to follow his vehicle when he left, but eventually lost it, according to the police report.
The clerk said he threatened to shoot her if anyone else entered the store, the police report stated. She also told police that when the man came in, she did not think anything of his ski mask because it was cold this morning and where she is from in New York, people wear them all the time when it is cold out.
Police said the robber was described as a black male approximately 5'10" to 6' tall, he was wearing brown shoes or work boots, dark pants, a black jacket possibly leather, a gray hoodie with the hood pulled up, a black mask and was of average build. Police said he was seen holding a small pistol.
Investigators are reviewing the surveillance and said no one was injured during the robbery.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or Anderson police.
