A Piedmont man accused of setting his mother on fire has been released from the hospital and arrested.
Detention center officials said Stanley Davis, 38, has been in jail since last week, charged with attempted murder. Anderson County deputies said Davis set his mother on fire in Piedmont on Jan. 1 at a home on River Road.
A short time later, Davis went to a home on Langston Street where he was shot by another family member, according to investigators. Davis' brother Anthony Davis told FOX Carolina he shot Stanley Davis in self-defense.
Davis' mother was taken to the Augusta Burn Center. There is no word on her condition since earlier in January.
Stanley Davis was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of his gunshots, where he remained for more than three weeks.
Investigators said no charges will be filed against Anthony Davis.
