EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Easley High School named former Sumter High School assistant football coach Grayson Howell as its new head football coach Tuesday.

Howell began his coaching career as an assistant at Daniel High School in 1994. He also coached at Strom Thurmond High School from 1995 to 2000. He then moved to Sumter High School, where he became the team's offensive coordinator in 2003.

"I've been really impressed with this track record and his ability to relate to students," said Easley High School athletic director Chris Carter. "He has shown himself to be a person of very high character and a tremendous classroom teacher."

Howell is a graduate of Sumter High School and Clemson University.
