Rain & Flooding Turns to Snow in Western, NC: The change was drastic yesterday in many Western NC towns. One of those places to experience a big switch in conditions within a 6-12 hour period was Boone, NC. Check out the photos I matched up this morning from Boone.
River Flood Warnings: Henderson and Transylvania counties remain under a River Flood warning which is in effect until early Saturday morning. Keep an eye out for high water in low-lying areas close-by and around the French Broad River Valley.
Cold Friday: A cool, breezy Thursday will turn into a chilly Friday as colder temperatures spill into our region. Highs will only reach the low-middle 40s for Upstate towns with 30s expected by afternoon across Western NC.
Area-Wide Snow Flurries - SAT?: Another, stronger clipper system will plunge down Saturday guided by the flow of a polar jet. Since this system will bring it's own cold air and it's own moisture (to a some degree), I wouldn't be surprised if a few, brief snow flurries broke out in a few Upstate or NE Georgia towns Saturday night. Western NC can expect another round of accumulating snow Saturday evening through Sunday morning as this system moves through.
