The suspect in a burglary was arrested Thursday after he was found riding a stolen bicycle, according to Greenville police.

Police said that earlier in the day they had received several reports of burglaries and car break-ins in the Brookside Way neighborhood. They said 37-year-old Demetrius Simmons, of Greenville, was later found not only riding a bike that had been reported stolen, but also in possession of items taken during the car burglaries.

Officers said that when they tried to arrest Simmons he fled and then struggled with them once they caught up to him.

Simmons was charged with burglary, auto-breaking, resisting arrest, larceny and interfering with police. He was being held at the Greenville County jail on a bond of $1,093.
