SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
After being locked down for about an hour because of a robbery nearby, students were allowed to leave a Spartanburg school Friday evening.
The robbery happened about 5 p.m. at Keith Evans Real Estate at 1525 Skylyn Dr.
Kim Keith, the owner of the business, said two masked men ran into the office just before 5 p.m., pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money. He said the men got away with not only cash from the business, but also the rent money of a man who was inside the store at the time.
A person who answered the phone at neighboring Houston Elementary School said they locked down the school shortly after 5 p.m. They said that students who participate in an after-school program that runs until 5:30 p.m. were not released until deputies gave the all-clear about an hour later.
Kevin Bobo, spokesman for the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, said deputies were in the area looking for the robber.
