Derrick Goode (Pickens County Detention Center)
EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Pickens County deputies said a man shot his stepbrother in Easley on Friday after a verbal dispute.
Deputies said Derrick Goode, 42, pulled out a gun when he was taunted by the victim, who was intoxicated during the incident at a home on 21st Street. They said Goode then shot the victim in the face.
The victim was being treated at Greenville Memorial Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Deputies said the victim initially claimed he accidentally shot himself but changed his story when a witness told officials Goode was the gunman.
Deputies said arrest warrants were issued for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime charges.
Goode was arrested on Sunday and is being held at the Pickens County Detention Center.
