SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters worked to battle a house fire in Spartanburg on Monday morning.

North Spartanburg Assistant Fire Chief Brent Lewis said they received multiple calls about a house on fire on Jennings Street about 5:45 a.m.

He said when they arrived, they found both the first and second floors on fire. By 7 a.m., crews had the fire down and worked to put out any remaining hot spots. He said the first and second floors were rented as separate spaces.

Lewis said they were searching to make sure no one was inside after neighbors said there might have been, but so far, there was no evidence that someone was in the home at the time of the blaze.

Firefighters from North Spartanburg, Hilltop and Boiling Springs were called to the fire and none were injured.

Drivers in that area should expect delays as the road is blocked near the home between Valley Falls Road and Brock Street.

There is no word what sparked the blaze.
