Good Tuesday morning - and thanks for all the well-wishes on National Weatherperson's Day. We appreciate the love - and we love what we do for all of you!
Luckily, the weather will stay pretty quiet today, which means we'll actually get to enjoy it! There is a light wintry mix falling in WNC this morning, but LIGHT is the key word. Areas in Swain, Haywood and Graham Counties right near the border have seen some snowflakes, sleet pellets, even some spotty freezing rain/rain... and we'll keep that chance near the TN border spots through 7 or 8 AM. Beyond that point, we'll see just a few spotty raindrops until the precip ends by late-morning. Because the precip is so light, we won't see any kind of problems due to slick roadways. In fact, in many spots the roads will stay dry.
Through the remainder of the day, we'll see a mix of clouds and sunshine overhead - very similar to the sky cover we saw on Monday. High temperatures will be warmer than they were yesterday, however, as we rise into the low 60s in the Upstate and the mid 50s in Western North Carolina.
We'll stay dry tonight and through the day Wednesday, with more sunshine in the forecast tomorrow. Highs will be even warmer for "Over the Hump Day" - Wednesday highs will top out in the mid 60s in the Upstate and get very close to 60 degrees in the Mountains.
Rain chances bump up for the end of the week, particularly Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. We'll dry out for the first day of the weekend, with another system bringing more rain showers late Sunday and Monday.
