A Greenwood man has been on the run for 10 years, but was recently located and arrested in southeast Florida, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Greenwood County deputies along with the Marshals were tipped off that Keon Deal, 34, may have assumed a new identity and was hiding out in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Deal was wanted in Greenwood County on murder, assault and battery with intent to kill, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime warrants, according to U.S. Marshals.

U.S. Marshals and Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force officers entered Deal's Florida home and arrested him. They said Deal gave several fake names but later confessed that he was the man they were looking for.

Deputies said Deal was one of the shooters involved in a fatal shooting at Club weekend Nov. 11, 2002. They said another person was injured in that shooting.

Deal is being held by the Broward County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting extradition back to Greenwood County.
