Delfino Dimas (Greenville Co. Detention Center)
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Greenville man wanted in connection with a fatal Greenville shooting six years ago was arrested in Arizona after crossing the border from Mexico illegally, police said.
Greenville police said 26-year-old Delfino Dimas shot into a car at Haywood Road and Interstate 385, striking a truck and killing the passenger inside. A passenger in Dimas's car told police he was the shooter, according to Dimas's arrest warrant.
Police said a murder warrant was issued for Dimas in 2007 following the Dec. 4, 2006, shooting, but he had not been seen since, believing he had been in Mexico since the shooting happened.
Police said Dimas was picked up in Arizona two weeks ago after he crossed back into the United States from Mexico illegally. Dimas was extradited back to Greenville County on Monday.
Jail records show he is being held on charges of murder, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, assault and battery with intent to kill, along with three bench warrants.
