SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two Spartanburg County men have been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty in connection with a burglary last fall.

Solicitor Barry Barnette said on Oct. 8, 2012, the men broke into a home on Bethesda Road, but a neighbor spotted them and called 911. When deputies arrived, they arrested 28-year-old Adam Moore at the home and then 24-year-old Joshua Tessnear the next day.

Deputies said Tessnear's truck was parked in front of the home with stolen items loaded in it, and he had schemed with Moore to break in and steal copper.

Moore pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, petty larceny and malicious injury to property on Nov. 1 and received a three-year prison sentence.

On Wednesday, Tessnear pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, petty larceny and obtaining property by false pretense and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Barnette said Tessnear's prior criminal history included convictions for unlawful carrying of a weapon, second-degree burglary, grand larceny, petty larceny, manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of hypodermic needles.

"This case is a great illustration of what occurs when conscientious community members partner with law enforcement," Assistant Solicitor Hillary Welborn said. "The caller recognized that something didn't look right and acted on it."

In 2011, Tessnear also sold a stolen four-wheel motorcycle for $1,800 but was later identified by the buyer in a line-up, Barnette said.
