Pair accused of lying about rape, harassment, threats

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville police said they have arrested a man and woman who filed several false police reports.

Investigators said 46-year-old Teresa Knapp and 39-year-old Michael Timmons filed reports that accused a man in Polk County of rape, harassment and communicating threats.

Police said that evidence found at the couple's Henrietta Street home and interviews with the pair led to their arrest.

Knapp was charged with three counts of perjury, conspiracy, six counts of filing a false police report, five counts of misuse of 911 and resist, delay and obstruct. She was being held in jail on $86,000 bond.

Timmons was charged with perjury, conspiracy, four counts of filing a false police report, 13 counts of communicating threats and resist, delay and obstruct. He was being held on $77,000 bond.

Police said Knapp was previously involved in a relationship with the man in Polk County. He was not arrested.
