GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An explosion left a man severely burned in Greer on Thursday afternoon.

The fire happened at Creekside RV Park on Valentine Lane.

Firefighters said they arrived to find the camper engulfed in flames. They said a man was found lying on the ground just outside of the camper, suffering from severe burns.

"I was literally 15 feet away, and I [saw] the dude walk towards the trash can to throw some stuff away," said Jonathan Sarratt, a neighbor. "He walked backed into his camper. Two minutes later, maybe three minutes, I heard a big boom and he literally fell out [of] the door."

The man was flown to the Augusta Burn Center, firefighters said.

Firefighters said they are trying to determine what caused the explosion.
