Jack Jennings Jr. (Union Co. Detention Center)
UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said a man pointed a gun at his girlfriend's friend because she made fun of the Valentine's Day gift he bought.
Union police said they were called to a Hamlet Street home after 66-year-old Jack Jennings Jr. became upset because someone said the diamond ring he bought for his girlfriend was something that came out of a "bubble gum machine."
The victim came over to see Jennings' girlfriend's gift and teased her saying she couldn't see the diamond and he "got the ring from a bubble gum machine," according to the police report.
Police said Jennings overheard the conversation, became upset and threatened to shoot her dead, saying "You don't talk about what I buy."
The victim had her granddaughter with her at the friend's house and both told officers the same story, police said. Jennings was arrested and charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.
