EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Following his training and competing at the national competition, an Upstate lawyer has made the U.S. team for the Battle of the Nations international medieval fighting championship.

Easley lawyer Trey Sutter qualified as a knight on one of Team USA's two teams during the national championship in Springfield, IL, last weekend.

Team USA will head to the Battle of the Nationals international competition in France from May 8-12.

Sutter trained and made much of his gear at his home in Easley. He told FOX Carolina last week that the average weight of the equipment he wears weighs nearly 100 pounds in steel added to his body.

And he said while it helps to be strong and study the latest fighting techniques, in most cases the winner is the person who is in the best shape and endures the longest because of all of the gear.

The international competition will be steamed online at battleofthenations.ua.
