For the second time in a week police officers investigate a methamphetamine operation in Middle Tennessee.
Officers discovered the meth lab in the 400 block of Mona Drive in Hermitage after a tip.
Police arrested Phillip Mason, 28, and 23-year-old Emily Mashburn. They're accused of making meth in the presence of their 3-year-old daughter.
For some time on Sunday police looked for 36-year-old Drew Mena. Channel 4 spoke with him just before police caught up with him outside his Hermitage duplex.
Mena said while he lives in the duplex, he'd recently been staying at his brother's place. He said it was a surprise to find piles of trash out front his place and a warning sign not to go inside when he arrived Sunday morning.
"I had no idea what was going on here, until I got here this morning," Mena said.
Late Saturday night police arrested Mason and Mashburn. Mena says he's known the couple for a while and he allowed them to recently move into his place from Kentucky.
"I never smelled anything, when they'd come in," Mena said. "I mean it just seem like they were always watching TV and their daughter was laying on the floor watching TV as well."
But when police raided the duplex Saturday night, officers found something much different. Investigators collected several items used to make meth along with an assault type rifle and ammunition.
Neighbor Lisa Gibbs says she only found out what was going next door, when officers knocked at her door.
"That was a shock to know that they were cooking meth and wouldn't open the doors with the baby," Gibbs said. "That's a shock."
Police arrested Mena shortly after Channel 4 spoke with him for his alleged involvement in the meth making operation.
Mason and Mashburn are behind bars each on a $50,000 bond. Their daughter is in the care of relatives.
