SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
For more than a year, animals picked up in Spartanburg County have been taken to Greenville County and that process will continue for a while longer.
The Spartanburg County Council recently approved a contract extension with Greenville County Animal Control, allowing animals picked up by Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Department's animal control division to be transported to Greenville County Animal Care and Services.
Since November 2011, the two counties have worked together at a cost of $24,000 per month. The contract was established after the Spartanburg Humane Society threatened not to take county animals because of a past due bill.
