GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The owner of a Greenville jewelry store fired at two men who held up the store Wednesday morning, according to deputies.

The robbery happened at 11:22 a.m. at Paradise Jewelers at 1616 Woodruff Rd.

Greenville County Master Deputy Laura Campbell said two men, wearing hooded sweatshirts and something over their faces, walked in to the store, ordered everyone to the ground and then smashed the display cases. They said the men, one of whom was armed with a gun, then swiped the merchandise and fled the store in a gray vehicle.

Campbell said the owner of the store then chased after the vehicle and fired several shots at the car. On Thursday, Campbell said the owner would not face charges after shooting at the men.

Mauldin police said they also believe the robbers hit a car parked at Proformance Group Inc. as they fled away from the robbery.

The owner told FOX Carolina that the store was back open on Thursday.

Anyone with information about the hold up is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME (864-232-7463).
