PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
An early morning fire has left a Pickens family out in the cold after the blaze destroyed their home, which was a renovated barn.
Firefighters said they were first called about 3 a.m. to the home on SC 183/Walhalla Highway after the family awoke to smoke and saw fire.
The family was able to get out safely, but firefighters said the home was a loss.

Three fire departments were at the home trying to get the fire under control and investigate what sparked it.
Firefighters were still investigating as of 7 a.m. Thursday at the home located on the west side of Pickens.
