SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A phone outage knocked out the 911 service in Oconee County Thursday morning has been fixed.
Oconee County Emergency Management Director Scott Krein said an AT&T the outage affected land lines, including 911, so people were encouraged to use their cell phones in the area.
County officials said the outage was resolved just before 11 a.m. and the 911 system was operating as normal.
If someone had an emergency, they were asked to try calling 911 first because some calls were going through. If they couldn't get through on 911, residents were asked to call 864-638-4111.
Seneca police asked anyone in Seneca in need of police assistance to call 864-885-1592.
Officials have not said what caused the outage.
