Deputies said an intoxicated Union man tried to shoplift various snack items at a local convenience store but did not get away before he was stopped.
Union County deputies said a worker at the Kangaroo Express on Lockhart Highway saw 24-year-old Raymond McRae shoplift something and was able to detain him before he drove off about 5:10 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies said when they arrived and spoke with McRae, he smelt of alcohol and weed. While searching him and his car, deputies said they found a bag of hot fries, a bag of flavored pretzels, several meat and cheese Slim Jims and some hot pickled sausage that had not been paid for.
McRae was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct and shoplifting.
