Mountville man killed in Greenwood Co. crash

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Mountville man was killed in a crash in Greenwood County on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened along U.S. Highway 221.

Troopers said a tractor-trailer was waiting to turn off the highway when a second vehicle slammed into the back of it.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 76-year-old Willie Smith, died from blunt force trauma to the chest, according to Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox.

Troopers said Smith was not wearing a seat belt.
