Friends speak out about gun violence after man is shot in car

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies say a man is clinging to life in the hospital after he was targeted and shot while sitting in his car in the Taco Bell parking lot near Westgate Mall.

Friends tell us this isn't the first time the victim's family has been the target of gun violence.

Bryson Booker says he is a friend of the victim. The victim's name has not been released to media.

However, Booker told FOX Carolina this is the second time gun violence has hit the family. In 2011, the victim's younger brother was shot and killed while sitting at home.

Now, two years later, the victim is shot while sitting in a silver Impala. Investigators say there was a single bullet hole through the back driver's side window. Tonight the victim is in critical condition.

"I hope he makes it. I hope whoever did it - I hope justice is served because a lot of times people who do crime don't get any time and they end up killing somebody," said Booker.

Tonight deputies are releasing few details. They are not releasing the identity of the victim as to not jeopardize their investigation.
