Happy Over-the-Hump Day! Wednesday will bring BIG improvements to most of the area, especially compared to yesterday's cold rain (BLAH!). Upstate areas have already seen clearing, and we'll stay mostly sunny through the day. Highs will be near-normal, rising into the upper 50s and near 60 degrees. Winds will be breezy, however - gusting between 20 and 30 mph at times.
In the Mountains, we'll keep more cloud cover overhead throughout the day. While many areas will be dry, snow showers will develop along the TN border. Those higher elevations have already seen a few snow showers this morning - and while I expect a lull in the action through the rest of the AM and afternoon, snow showers will pick up again this evening and overnight. WNC highs will reach the low 50s with breezy winds.
The rest of the week stays quiet for most, but TN border spots will continue to see snow showers through Friday. Accumulations of 3-6 inches are likely on the higher peaks by the end of the week. As Kendra wrote in her post last night, it does look like the entire area holds a chance of seeing some light snow this weekend. However, accumulations of a dusting to an inch look to be the norm, and the roads will just be wet post-snow with temps above freezing.
On a side note, this morning is my last at FOX Carolina. I want to thank you all for making the past three years so enjoyable - it's been a pleasure bringing you the forecast and getting the chance to interact with you on this blog and Facebook. I'll miss you all - and the AWESOME weather team you have here at FOX Carolina. Make sure you stick with Kendra and Andy - they're top notch!
