GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Sheriff Steve Loftis said seven people were arrested in connection with the death of a Greenville man whose body was found shot to death inside a home on Saturday.

The coroner said 21-year-old John Zimeri died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies said they were called to 630 Centre Blvd. at 4:09 a.m. after someone reported hearing gunshots, and Zimeri's body was found lying just inside the back door of the home.

On Wednesday, Loftis announced the seven suspects' arrest, saying one man shot and killed Zimeri while the others tried protect the gunman.

Jamie Mishoe, 22, was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The six other suspects - Imogene Mishoe, 43; Labraski Mishoe, 19; Jordan Sullivan, 21; Kareem Cotton, 23; Kenosha Jackson-Mishoe, 19 and Ebony Morris, 19 - were charged with criminal conspiracy and accessory after the fact. All seven suspects are being held in the county jail.

Zimeri's death was the sixth homicide in a section of southern Greenville County in two months, which Loftis said is an urgent problem, requiring more deputies to patrol the area and crack down on crime.
