INMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County dispatchers said firefighters were called to a fire at a local chemical plant Friday morning that turned out be a brief burst of chemicals into the air.

Dispatchers said the fire was reported at the Milliken & Company chemical plant on Campton Road in Inman, but they did not have any other information about the blaze.

FOX Carolina crews at the scene reported Campton Road was blocked in front of the plant in both directions, so drivers may be detoured in the area.

Plant officials and Spartanburg County Emergency Management officials said the plant lost power during an outage early Friday morning, which caused a burst releasing about 20 pounds of chemicals into the air.

They said the chemicals do not pose a health concern because they were organic matter. Authorities said no one was hurt but there was minor damage.

Firefighters were called to a downed power line along Campton Road Friday morning that prompted a temporary outage for nearly 1,400 local Duke Energy customers, which was later resolved.
