ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A fire has destroyed the Anderson family's privately owned business Friday night on 329 Gibson Rd. in Anderson.
Three fire departments fought the blaze Friday. They say the structure is a total loss. The 911 call actually came in from a passing deputy that saw the smoke.
The mill itself is in the back of the property, well off the road. Firefighters had to deal with the obstacle of getting water from a road a few miles away because there was not a hydrant in the area.
The mill was with the family for 45 years, now all they have left are memories. The owner says it was hard to break the news to his loved ones.
"I just called them a few minutes ago and they felt very sorry because they knew how much all this meant to me," said owner Charles Gibson. "I enjoyed going down there with the grandchildren, we would play around and make some things."
No injuries were reported in the incident.
