Anderson County authorities said a man was crushed by a hay bale while working on his farm Sunday morning.
It happened at a farm along Holiday Dam Road in the Belton Honea Path area. The coroner's office said David Knight went out to feed his cows before heading to church.
The coroner said while Knight was loading a hay bale on his tractor, it rolled down and pinned him in his seat, suffocating him. The hay weighed more than 1,000 pounds.
Deputies said Knight's son found his body around 9 a.m. and emergency crews at the scene tried but were not able to resuscitate him.
