GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Sirens will sound across the Upstate on Tuesday morning during a statewide tornado drill as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The drill is scheduled for 9 a.m. in South Carolina. Public schools, emergency management officials, broadcasters and more will participate in the drill, which will help the public prepare to handle weather emergencies.

The drill will be issued by the National Weather Service using the Emergency Alert System and NOAA weather radios, weather permitting.

According to the National Weather Service, North Carolina will hold its own statewide drill at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

FOX Carolina Chief Meteorologist Kendra Kent will also address each day's topic on the Weather Blog.
